    Boxing

My male trainer, S*****n was professional, not TOO chatty. It was my first time in that gym but I had been doing boxing occasionally for quite some time now and I was satisfied with their service. The core and stretching was done by another guy who I think was a trainee. The latter was my favorite part. He was a bit timid but he was considerate enough to be asking if I’m comfortable with the stretches to be done.

    BJJ Fundamentals

Black belt instructor: LOTS of studentd(didnt bother counting). The professor showed me how to sweep my enemy when I have a lasso on one side, and spider guard at the other side by releasing the lasso and hooking the ankle and drop my enemy to the other side and then slide his leg down to my armpit and do an ankle lock, then push him to get up. If he defends it by back stepping, I swing my leg up into a triangle while he is busy backstepping. If my enemy is much bigger than me, I may have trouble locking the triangle. Instead, I lock into a diamond shape over his shoulders and then submit him with an armbar instead. Afterwards, we sparred. Because I am a 0 degree white belt, I was unable to defend myself when rolling with the Professor. His arm bar attack came out of nowhere. It was so swift that the moment I started defending, it was already too late. The armbar was so strong that I tapped immediately to avoid permanent damage to my elbow. I pray that as I practice, I will improve :(

Brazilian instructor: 7 students. The Professor taught me how to do a technical stand up to escape from my enemy, or sweep my enemy. We then did a drill where we tried to pass the guard of our partners, or stop our partners from passing our guards without using hands. Finally, we did real pass guard sparring. Because I am a 0 degree white belt, I was unable to stop the advances of my partners while protecting against strikes. In sport BJJ, punching and kicking are not allowed. In a real situation, I can guarantee that my enemies will try to hit me. Therefore learning to defend against that is crucial. I pray that as I practice, I will improve :(

HKer instructor: one student. Private class yeah!!! Professor Nick mainly worked on positioning with me. This is important because my enemy will not be standing still when attacking me. No matter how good my striking is, stationary training can only get me so far. We did punching, kicking, elbowing, kneeing, and lots of core conditioning. We ended with kicking sparring with no punching or grappling. Befause I am a beginner, I had trouble moving my legs smoothly. I pray that as I practice, I will improve :(

Brazilian? Instructor: Dude was wearing a brazil t-shirt so I assume that is where he was from; 3 students but the big dude was late, so we had a semi-private class for almost half an hour. The professor asked me to do 50 jumping jets, 50 burpees, and 50 push ups as warm up. The teenager did not do them. I reckon it was because he had done the youth class right before this one. I then learned how to pass by enemy’s guard using the Tory Round Doe pass, then go on knee-on-belly. As my enemy tries to push my knee away, i grab his arm and defeat him with an arm bar or key moo ra. Because I am a beginner, I had trouble keeping my balance in the movements. We ended the class with 100 sit ups and one minute plank. Normally I can do 30 secs only, but today there were people doing Muay Thai sparring, which distracted me so I forgot about how hard the plank was, so I wnded up doing the full 60 seconds lol. I pray that as I practice, I will improve ;)

There was something to suit every level - the trainer was very knowledgeable and talked us through some tricky little techniques which I really enjoyed learning. As a whole the gym is very well equipped, they have a big mixture of classes for all round martial arts and yoga. Lots of pads, bags and a large ring. Muay Thai Beginners

The sunday class was a blast and definitely a sweat for anyone looking to start their day strong with some muaythai training! Antonio is an informative and knowledgable coach who ensured each student was able to learn from the class despite the differences in the individual skill levels.

    Muaythai

Andy was very attentive to the beginners and super helpful. First time trying out MMA, would consider it as a long term hobby after the class with Andy. Staff and participants super friendly too! Recommended to give it a try (the session is intense tho) so buckle up! 😂

    Boxing

I underestimated the intensity of boxing. I was out of my breath even during the warming up session but Bob is a very friendly and accommodating instructor. Suitable for beginners!

    BJJ No-Gi

Young instructor: 3 students. A young lady, a young dude, and an old dude(me). The Professor taught me lots of drills, including how to escape while my enemy has pinned me down, and also how to sweep my enemy while he has mounted me. We ended up with 3 rounds of sparring so that everyone goes with everyone. Because I am a 0 degree white belt, I cannot even do a knee on belly properly. My Senpai was walking me through how to put more weight on him, but no matter how hard I tried, he seemed to not feel anything lol!

    No Gi Basic class

Brown belt instructor: 1 student. Private class YaY!!!! The Master taught me how to use the Coyote guard from Half guard to get up to Dog Fight position. From there, I can take my enemy’s back, or grab his knee and ankle and push him down and climb up onto mount or side control. If he puts on a wizzard, I can grab his ankle only and then roll under him and flip him over. A more simple technique is to just pull out my leg from half guard and shoot into closed guard. We ended the class with 2 rounds of sparring. Because I am a 0 degree white belt, I cannot do the technique when the Master had his wizzard on me. I pray that as I practice, I will improve :(
